The Manufacturing Engineer will implement innovative manufacturing
solutions for continuous improvement projects, product changes and
new products across multiple facilities and product lines. Ensures
the identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing
technologies and process to improves the manufacturing
operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report on Key Performance Indicators to management in support
of the business operating systems.
- Continues to monitor latest manufacturing technology techniques
to ensure that manufacturing processes can be optimized. This could
include welding technologies, information technologies, assembly
techniques, tooling development.
- Develops, or facilitates the development of, manufacturing
plans for complex changes and new products.
- Prepares, or ensures that prepared, manufacturing plans will
meet throughput, cost, and quality targets and include: time
calculations, equipment concepts, capital and tooling cost
estimates, labor estimates, process flow diagram, plant layout, and
error proofing required.
- Participates with cross-functional teams to ensure that product
changes and new product launches are successful.
- Directly assists design engineering with issues on new and
existing products.
- Reviews product designs for manufacturability including:
location surfaces, tolerances, assembly order and ease of assembly,
etc.
- Specifies and manages special machine suppliers to ensure the
equipment provided meets the safety, throughput, cost, and quality
requirements.
- Develops manufacturing processes and best practices that are
structured, well managed, prioritized, documented, transparent and
customer focused
- Improves manufacturing processes utilizing automation.
Researches, develops, evaluates, and implements automation in all
aspects of manufacturing.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
- Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding
manufacturing capabilities, product design, production schedules,
and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Interfaces with customer representatives when required
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering or other technical
degree. Masters Degree a plus.
- Minimum five (5) years automotive manufacturing engineering
experience.
- Knowledgeable in a CAD modeling environment
- Skilled in Data Analysis using Excel
- Detailed understanding of general assembly processes, tools,
and hardware.
- Working knowledge of DFM, DFA, QS/ISO/TS, PFMEA, APQP and
PPAP
- Demonstrated process improvement through application of Lean
Systems, Six Sigma, and Problem Solving Techniques
- Automotive equipment experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to
influence others to meet objectives.
- Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple
assignments and changing priorities.
- Proficient in using MS Office
- Leadership and Communication Training
- Deep understanding of AS9100 requirements
