At Whisker, life together just keeps getting better.Whisker is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan and Juneau, Wisconsin with 500+ passionate team members.What Youll Do:The Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for developing test documentation, procedure, and executing tests on various products produced by Whisker. Testing responsibilities will cover a combination of firmware, hardware, and mobile app experience and may be conducted manually or automated, depending on the situation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.Plans and prioritizes advanced testing activities, incorporating strategic considerations and liaising with development teams and stakeholders.Works closely with firmware developers to understand product specifications and requirements.Develops comprehensive test procedures and documentation for various products, with an emphasis on leveraging advanced techniques and industry best practices.Designs and implements automated test setups and frameworks, optimizing for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.Executes rigorous testing on firmware and hardware updates, employing advanced white box and black box testing methodologies.Conducts thorough testing of firmware releases to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability and conducts thorough troubleshooting to identify and address weaknesses and problem areas in firmware and hardware systems.Performs regression testing to ensure that previously identified issues have been addressed.Prepares detailed test reports, providing comprehensive analysis and actionable.Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, serving as a subject matter expert and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in testing processesProvides expert support, maintenance, and enhancement of all testing-related activities throughout iterative development and system testing phasesDevelops and maintains advanced test and programming fixtures, as well as associated software, to support complex factory operations and production testingWill perform additional responsibilities when requiredRequirements:What Youll Bring:BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science5+ years experience in firmware and hardware QA and testing roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and technical expertiseExperience conducting end-to-end testing of an entire IoT ecosystem including devices, gateways, and cloud servicesExperience with testing the integration of IoT devices with various platforms, mobile apps, and cloud servicesExperience evaluating the performance of IoT devices under different loads and scenariosProficiency in automated testing tools and scripting languages for efficient and repetitive testing tasksProven track record of building and managing automated test environments, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvementExtensive hands-on experience with both advanced white box and black box testing techniques, including advancedExperience with Git, Bitbucket, and JIRAKnowledge of programming languages (i.e. C, Java, C#, python, typescript)Knowledge of digital and analog electronicsKnowledge utilizing standard lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscopes)Strong technical writing and communication skillsIdentifies, communicates, and escalates issuesAnalytical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work collaborativelyMaintains confidentiality of proprietary informationAbility to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptionsA high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate othersAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleaguesNot Required but Nice to Have!Not required to have pets but highly recommended!Benefits & Purrks:Join a tenacious, inventive company that empowers team members to chart their own path, lead by grounding decisions in the why, and has a strong sense of empathy and openness to new perspectives.
