Job Description:
*Positi**on Summary: * The Assistant Director (AD) is
responsible for supporting the Program Director in the day-to-day
supervision and operations of the child care center. The role
includes integration of the key elements of developmentally
appropriate practices and high quality early care and education in
accordance with Great Start to Quality standards, State of Michigan
Child Care Licensing regulations, and accreditation standards and
criteria. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for
quality office management and efficient daily operation of
office-related activities, including collection of fees/tuition and
record keeping. The AD will assist the Program Director in the core
function areas of: staff performance, curriculum, environment,
communication, and family support. The AD incorporates the Felician
Core Values for Ministry into all daily activities and
responsibilities.*Qualifications: ** Bachelor or Associate degree
in early childhood education; early childhood specialist preferred*
3+ years experience within early care working in a licensed
childcare setting* Knowledge of State of Michigan Child Care
Licensing Rules and Regulations* Current CPR, First Aid and
Registry Certification* Exemplary interpersonal, collaborative,
team building, planning, managerial skills* Proficient user of MS
Office software and phone systems* Interest and ability to support
children, their families, and the public* Excellent customer
service skills* Ability to analyze an issue, identify options, and
implement solutions* Ability to work cooperatively with people
inside and outside of the ministry* Ability to communicate
(verbally and in writing) and effectively interact with children,
their family members, management colleagues, staff members, and the
public* Ability to work independently, managing multiple demanding
tasks under critical timeframes*Duties: ** Provide prompt and
courteous reception and information to parents and visitors* Assume
responsibility for efficient office management and supervise
administrative staff* Assist the Program Director with tasks
related to day-to-day administration of the facility, health and
safety requirements, State of Michigan child care licensing and
staff scheduling* Work with Program Director and Enrollment Manager
(if applicable), assist with enrollment management and scheduling*
Maintain accurate tuition accounting for each family and actively
enforce tuition policies, including pursuing collections of overdue
accounts* Act as liaison with St. Mary Mercy Hospital, when needed*
Maintain files on each child as required for licensing (including
emergency and health forms)* Support the philosophy of the Felician
Sisters Child Care Centers, Inc. and St. Mary Child Care Center by
adhering to procedures and established standards of
conduct/practices* Oversee additional programs (i.e.
Intergenerational preschool) as directed by the Program Director
and assist with special events, fundraisers, etc., as needed*
Support the Program Director, ensuring teachers implement the
curriculum and assessment and provide support and constructive
feedback to assist teachers and assistants, including assisting
with performance evaluation for lead and assistant teachers*
Mentor/coach teachers and assistants* Assist with classroom
observations to ensure licensing and QSTQ standards are being met*
Staffing maximizing employee utilization* Staffing ensure
child/teacher ratios are met, providing coverage in rooms if
necessary* Liaison and support communication between teachers and
families* Assist with onboarding and training for new staff* Assist
in staff meeting planning and continuing education presentations
for staff and parents*Physical and Mental Requirements: ** Ability
to sit (50%), walk/stand (50%), routinely throughout the shift.*
Ability to periodically lift up to 50 lbs.* Ability to effectively
manage emergency/critical situations, as well as multiple tasks.*
Perform duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases
inherent to child care, and occasional exposure to loud or
unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior of the children and
seasonal exposure to high humidity, heat and cold due to the
internal and external environment.*Standards and Felician Core

of Michigan Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers; comply with the

activities. The Assistant Director ensures that all families and
