The Early On Service Support staff will manage an Early On caseload and referrals from agency Early On programs that may be potentially eligible for Special Education Services. Duties will include conducting timely evaluations, timely completion of IFSP paperwork, providing timely services in home visits, provide intervention sessions, and coordinate services for Early. On eligible children and families as needed. Summer work will be required for this position for 8-14 days each year. DISTRICT OVERVIEW: Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 14,100 pre-K - post secondary students. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for the Livonia Public Schools is in excess of $164 million, with state funding of $8,700 per pupil. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Superintendent in exercising the prerogative to determine appropriate qualifications. Bachelor's degree Licensed School Social Worker, Licensed Registered School Nurse, Elementary Teaching Cert with ZA or ZS endorsement, or related field Preference given to those that have Michigan Association of Infant Mental Health Endorsement - any level Preference given to those with experience working with infants and toddlers and providing home visits Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation Completion of The Essentials of Early On - online training Background Check required Current certification/licensure in State of Michigan Must be highly organized, able to manage own time, meet mandated deadlines, and maintain extensive documentation. Must be flexible to meet changing family and program needs Must exhibit professionalism in settings/homes of diverse populations Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families Knowledge of Early Intervention and experience in the teaming/coaching interaction Knowledge of Early On Procedural Safeguards and Parental Rights MAJOR FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Embrace the District's mission, vision, and collective commitments in order to make decisions that reflect the District's philosophy of placing the needs of children and their education first. Maintain a collaborative and interactive working relationship with all personnel at district and school levels. Manage a caseload of Early On eligible children. Demonstrate a strong foundation and understanding of early childhood development, educate parents and coaches to support the whole child's development through activities during daily routines. Utilize interviewing skills to conduct family assessments to learn more about the family's strengths, needs, and priorities for their child. Develop functional child and family outcomes in partnership with families that are based upon family interest and priorities. Support families in connecting to other services in the community that they may need. Collaborate with RESA Early On consultants and committees to provide Early On services. Collaborate with the Department of Student Services and Jackson Early Childhood Center Attend county and state meetings/workshops in order to develop and maintain expertise in the areas of Early On and Early Childhood, and learn recent updates and guidance to bring back to the District. Provide services in child's natural environment. Work to identify any and all children, ages 0-3, who may be eligible for Early On services. Coordinate evaluation for MMSE potentially eligible children with Early On MMSE team. Evaluate children using a state-approved evaluation tool according to the tool's prescribed procedures and complete a routine-based family assessment. Maintain all required documentation and adhere to Early On timelines. Provide/coordinate all services listed on the IFSP for the first time within 30 days of parental consent. Timely completion and submission to data entry personnel of Individual Family Service Plans. Facilitate the development of a timely transition plan once the child turns 2 years 3 months (27 months) and before 2yrs 9mo (33mo). Provide parents/caregivers strategies to increase their skills in helping their children develop and learn every day during daily routines. Facilitate compliance with the family's rights and procedural safeguards. Maintain documentation of contacts/interventions/child progress and resources provided. Maintain documentation and record of Child Outcomes Summary at entry and exit if in program > 6mo. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal of Jackson and/or the Coordinator of Student Services. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The employee's salary and working conditions are in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Professional Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Education Association.
