Job Description:
Job description The individual in this role will be responsible
for installing, inspecting, and fixing our customer's heating,
cooling, and ventilation systems. Your job as an HVAC technician is
to help our customers find a comfortable temperature, no matter
what the weather is like outside, while helping them save money
each month on utility bills without sacrificing comfort by offering
options to improve the current system. HVAC technicians must be
ready to repair, install or maintain all heating and cooling
systems in a home or office building. Our goal is for the employee
to grow with the company.HVAC/R Technician Duties &
Responsibilities
- Travel to homes and businesses daily, as scheduled
- Determine customer needs
- Maintain and Install heating, cooling, and ventilation
systems
- Inspect current HVAC/R systems for effectiveness and
safety
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems to increase
longevity
- Conduct performance tests with specialized tools
- Troubleshoot current HVAC/R system issues
- Repair damaged HVAC/R systems
- Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC
resources
- Categorize and organize inventory to limit unnecessary losses
to the company.
- Move to and from each job quickly to maximize your time during
the day and ensure that as many customers as possible are
helped.

- Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule with multiple
appointments in different locations
- Must know how to work with condensation lines, heating and
cooling units - and all of their parts, how to replace filters,
change/program a thermostat, properly clean and inspect the system
(inside and out), ensure safe operation of equipment
- Must have own transportation to worksite and/or shop
- May have work hours around the shop and property for
maintenance
- Monitor, evaluate, and troubleshoot condition of operating
equipment, controls, and safeties to ensure continued safe
operation and life cycle performance.
- Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearings, etc.
- Read prints, diagrams, and drawings necessary to perform
maintenance and parts replacement; use micrometers, dial gauges,
strain gauges, etc. to take close tolerance measurements.
- Carry out work assignments in an efficient manner to maximize
productivity.
- Follow company procedures, guidelines, and rules as job
functions are performed and report any unsafe condition.
- Know and follow procedures and policies.
- Actively participate in and complete all required training
programs.
- Must maintain a neat work area and inspect area for cleanliness
at the completion of the job - wears booties to cover work shoes,
uses drop cloths, etc.
- Maintain company vehicle, ensuring that it is always clean on
both the inside and outside.HVAC/R Technician Required Skills
- Ability to work in less-than-ideal situations: cold or hot
spaces, tight or uncomfortable spaces, uncomfortable positions to
reach equipment, able work in attics, basements or on rooftops,
etc.
- Knowledge of Governmental Regulations: employee must handle
gases, refrigerants and other potentially toxic or hazardous
materials. Also, employee will have to know the regulations for the
proper and safe disposal of these materials, so that you can
protect yourself, your clients and the environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment safely and properly.
- Ability to use specific and sensitive tools
- Communication Skills: exceptional customer service is a must -
clients may be frustrated with the condition of their system or the
amount of time it is taking to correct an issue while they are
uncomfortable, ability to communicate calmly and effectively,
ability to speak and explain systems and functions in laymen s
terms so the client can understand the process, and possibly the
ability to sell service/ maintenance contracts.
- Troubleshooting: ability to adapt, correct and think creatively
to solve issues for jobs that are not as straightforward as they
seem or start out to be - the faster the employee figures out the
problem with the HVAC system and devise the right approach to
fixing the problem, the more effective the employee will become as
a technician.
- Computer and App Skills: Knowing the technology is part of the
job - apps for time-tracking, project management, Quickbooks, etc.
as well as computer programs and specific HVAC programs.
- Education and Certification: Continuing education for HVAC
industry standards and tools, is a must. Obtaining certifications
is also a must (such as an EPA Cert.)
- Conduct: Must conduct oneself with integrity, must be able to
work independently, willing to work long hours, weekends and
holidays, must be able to work around a fluctuating schedule such
as appointment cancellations or additions and/or emergenciesHVAC/R
Technician Minimum Requirements
- Licensed
- 5 years of verifiable work experience
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must pass background check
- Must hold state driver s license
