Maintenance Manager/Controls Engineer

Job Description:

Position SummaryThe Maintenance Manager will have the responsibility of leading a maintenance department for a manufacturing plant including the installation, new build, repair and preventative maintenance of equipment and all plant machine control systems and documentation. This includes assigning work orders to maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with documented procedures, driving continuous improvement and professional development of the maintenance staff. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for communicating and analyzing downtime and cost data.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:Supervise the maintenance operation for the location in order to minimize equipment downtime, including driving standardization of maintenance procedures and systems between plants.Supervise a staff and oversee the employees in the Maintenance Department of the location, including participating in and overseeing the workforce selection, work planning and direction, coaching, training, and performance management processes.Responsible for sending out daily shift reports, project update and machine status.Coordinate and ensure proper execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities, including managing the preventative maintenance program and ensuring the appropriate control systems are in place to manage department schedules, activities, and expenses.Collaborate with other departments on new and existing machine control modifications to robotic, electrical, electronic, hydraulic pneumatic, camera vision systems and laser marking.Manage the maintenance supplies acquisition process and inventory in a cost-effective manner.Implement and maintain a data collection system for the department.Performs preventative maintenance and complete workorders on production equipment or plant facilities.Responsible for installation and maintenance of machinery, equipment, etc.Oversees work performed by outside contractors as necessary.Keeps related records and charts and analyzes their implications.Aids in identifying repetitive equipment failures and determining the root cause of ongoing equipment failures.Design and approval of all electrical equipment design for all machines scheduled to be installed in the plant.Responsible for LOTO design schematics and employee training and sign-off.Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs, participating in special projects, ISO/IATF audits and committees.Ensure the facilities and grounds are maintained in accordance with relevant regulations.Enforce compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) safety rules and regulations, taking prompt corrective action concerning potential safety hazards and ensuring that all required training is completed in a timely manner.Enforce all company policies and procedures and complete administrative tasks associated with the management of people and maintenance processes.Perform all other duties as assigned, instructed, or directed.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Extensive knowledge with electrical and hydraulic systems programming, design, coolant and oil filtration, machine design and machine installation.Understand the major components of assembly machines and their function. (Sensors, PLC, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, etc.)Proven management experience supervising a group, strong leadership skills.Have a thorough understanding of electrical concepts, both high and low voltage.Understand the difference between HMI and Machine controls. Knowledge of AB PanelView design software, Fanuc 31i, Siemens 840, AB PLC 5, Micro Logic, Servo Motion Controls.Knowledge of LOTO, Category 3 and 4 Safety Circuits, TPM system design and implementation.AutoCAD for electrical schematic design and print design.Understand the concepts of axis drives and Ladder logic, and their differences and similarities.Familiarity with complex machinery, electrical circuits, and plant operating equipment.Knowledge of Maintenance software for tracking downtime, PM, Workorders, spare parts. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
